Landers-Murphy Wins London Open

The Bay's Amanda Landers-Murphy has claimed the $15K London Open Squash Championships title over the weekend.

In Round 1 Landers-Murphy took on Nicole Bunyan of Canada claiming her win 11/8, 9/11, 11/2, 11/9 in 45mins.
In the Quarter Finals Landers-Murphy was pushed by qualifier Lucy Turmel from England taking the win in an epic five setter 11/6, 11/6, 5/11, 6/11, 11/6 in 50mins.
Landers-Murphy continued to go from strength to strength in the Semi Finals taking out the sixth seed Julianne Courtice of England after Courtice upset the second seed in the Quarter Finals. Landers-Murphy took her win 11/6, 8/11, 12/10, 14/12 in 47mins.
The title was anti-climactic for Landers-Murphy as her opponent top seed Emily Whiltock of England had to withdraw due to injury.

It was Amanda's first PSA title outside NZ & Australia and the biggest of her career so far.   Shortly after the event, Amanda reflected "It’s a weird feeling. I haven’t really been able to celebrate...definitely not the way I wanted to win it at all! But I guess it happens and I’m happy to get the title"

Landers-Murphy will move onto the Monte Carlo Classic before competing in the World Championships this month.
