Two Champions for the Bay

Two BOP clubs have taken out the honours at the Superchamps finals!  BOP had an impressive 15 teams travel all around the country to compete in the national superchamps finals over the weekend.

The finals are a culmination of months of training as well as plenty of fundraising for the teams, with the elusive goal of becoming a national champions as the ultimate goal. This year two teams won their event to be crowned national champions.

Katikati has had a long proud history at Superchamps with the small club often punching above their weight in various grades.  Not only did they win their third title this year, but it was the hotly contested B grade men's division, and remarkably they did it from 7th seeds.  They claimed the third B Men's title in the past 6 years for the Bay.

The second title for the BOP was taken out by the young team of F/J men from the Mount.  The sixth Superchamps title for the Mount, and their first since 2000 shows the rising talent the club has developed through it's exceptional junior program run by team coach Karen Roberts.  The Bay also had three teams finish runner-up in their grade.  Te Puke F/J Men, Taupo D Men, and Taneatua C Ladies all got runner-up banners.
