Squash Bay of Plenty is pleased to announce that Shane Mulcahy will be stepping into the role of General Manager for a 12-month maternity cover, taking over from Rebecca Glenton.
Shane will be based at the Sport Bay of Plenty offices in Tauranga, starting at the end of August, and will officially take the reins from Rebecca in mid-September.
A long-time member of the squash community, Shane has played the sport on and off for many years. What began as his second sport eventually became his main passion (although, in his words, he’s “still working on mastering it”).
He has fantastic leadership experience, having served as President of Te Puke Squash Club for four years and on its committee for a further three. He has also contributed his skills to squash committees in Rangitikei and Takaka.
When asked what he will bring to the role, “I bring a large amount of experience to the squash community. I’m not afraid to embrace new ideas and opportunities, recognising that we live in a fast-paced, ever-changing world — much like the game of squash itself.”
Shane is particularly looking forward to getting out into the community:
“I’m really looking forward to visiting the clubs, connecting with everyone, and maybe even getting in a few games.”
